Vocabulary Management Service

The Vocabulary Bank, originally developed with the support of Becta and later supported by the ESCS Information Standards Board, ceased operation on 31 March 2010.  The service has ceased due to a decision by the ISB to withdraw funding.  The Vocabulary Studio has also been withdrawn.

On its own initiative, Vocabulary Management Group is offering access to some public vocabularies of relevance to the sector via a publicly available instance of Lexaurus Bank at http://public.lexaurus.net

This service is not connected in any way with DCSF, Becta or ISB and Vocman makes no warranty about the status or currency of any of the vocabularies it contains.  Vocabularies may be added or removed from the public bank without notice.  Note that the contents of the public bank are not restricted to the education, skills and children’s services domain and may reflect the broader interests of Vocman’s clients and partners.

Owners of vocabularies who would like to use Vocman’s Lexaurus suite of products to maintain and host access to their vocabularies in the medium to long term should contact us to discuss pricing plans.

Vocabulary Management Group is not able to comment on ISB’s future plans for supporting work in this area or whether machine readable vocabularies will be updated or developed to reflect changes in the curriculum.  Former users of the Vocabulary Bank who wish to discover definitive information about policy in this area, and the latest versions of vocabularies, should contact the ISB.
